Welcome to the Texas Chinese Community Health Worker (CHW) Certification Training Program!
This program was designed and established by Dr. Lei-Shih (Lace) Chen at the Department of Health and Kinesiology of Texas A&M University. Funded by the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT), this program is the first of its kind with two main areas of focus:
1. To provide a CHW certification training program focused on cancer prevention specifically for Chinese-speaking individuals in Texas who are at least 16 years old
2. To promote cancer prevention services and education through trained Chinese-speaking CHWs for Chinese Americans in Texas
Our History
We have already pilot-tested this program with a small group of Chinese Americans in Texas. Now, we have opened up this program to any Chinese American in Texas who is at least 16 years old that's interested in becoming a CHW.
A total of 500 people will be recruited this time, if you are interested, please register as soon as possible. If you have not finished the pre-test questionnaire, class orientation, and class #1 within two weeks after the course begins, the system will automatically delete your user account. If you find that you cannot complete the program on time after registration, please contact us as soon as possible.
